Campaign Title: Mining Through the Lens

 

CIM Sudbury Branch invite students to capture the mining world from their own perspective — the people, the places, the equipment, the innovation, and the moments that define their experience in the field.

 

Eligibility

Any current post‑secondary student working in a mining, mining technology, or geology related workplace.

 

Contest Category 

  1. Jobsite Vision

Show the reality of mining workplaces with an eye for safe practices, operational awareness, and the technologies shaping modern sites. Capture the environment where innovation and safety meet daily work.

  1. Equipment Focus

Highlight the machinery, tools, and technological systems that power today’s mining operations. Showcase equipment in action, emphasizing safe use, engineering excellence, and innovative design.

  1. People in Mining

Celebrate the individuals who drive the industry forward. Capture teamwork, craftsmanship, leadership, and commitment to safety, along with how people interact with new technologies and innovative practices.

  1. Scenic Mining Moments

Reveal the beauty surrounding mining environments — landscapes, geology, lighting, and textures. Show how natural settings, responsible operations, and modern technology coexist within the mining world.

September 4, 2026

 

How to Submit

All submissions must be emailed to sudbury@cim.org with email subject line: “Mining Through the Lens”

 

Awards & Prizes

Each category will recognize five outstanding submissions, celebrating creativity, safety awareness, and innovation in mining photography. Prizes may include Cash awards, Branch Student Membership, Branch Swags, etc.

 

Rules & Requirements

  1. Photos must follow workplace safety and confidentiality requirements and must be approved by the company. Release forms are required for any photos featuring individuals or workplace settings.
  2. All photos must be taken by the person submitting.
  3. No AI‑generated or AI‑modified images.
  4. Up to 3 photos per category (maximum 10 photos per contestant).
  5. Photos must be high‑quality JPG files and no more than 3MB each.
  6. Photos are recommended to be taken between September 2025 and September 2026.
  7. Each photo must be labeled with the category, and the email submission may include an optional short description.
  8. By submitting, photographers grant CIM Sudbury permission to use the images for branch‑related communications and promotional materials.

 

Winners will be announced at 2026-2027 Season Student Night (November GMM). We look forward to celebrating the creativity and field experiences of students across our region.
