Christina Visser
CEO, Ionic Technology Group
Christina is the CEO of the Ionic Technology Group, which includes Ionic Mechatronics, Variant Mining Technologies, and Black Rock Engineering, among others. Christina graduated from Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo, followed by an MBA from Laurentian University. She began her career at Inco in the General Engineering Department in 1995. In 1999, she supported her husband Steve Matusch as he launched Ionic Engineering, and ultimately the Ionic Technology Group. In 2005, Christina joined Ionic Engineering, and in 2014, she led the spinoff of Black Rock Engineering. When Steve passed away from cancer in 2020, Christina took his place as the CEO of the Ionic Technology Group and continues Steve’s legacy of providing innovative solutions to clients’ problems, and good jobs in Northern Ontario.
Christina was also the founding president of WISE (Women in Science and Engineering) Sudbury Chapter, a First Lego League coach, and has served on the boards of WISE Sudbury Chapter, the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers, Greater Sudbury Utilities, as well as the Science North and Laurentian Engineering Advisory Boards. She is also the proud mother of Brendon (19) and Annika (16).
