Mark Selby

Chairman/CEO & Director, Canada Nickel

Mr. Selby was formerly President & CEO of RNC Minerals (Royal Nickel Corporation) where he led a team that successfully raised over $100 million and advanced the Dumont nickel-cobalt project from initial resource to a fully permitted, construction ready project. He has held a number of senior management roles with Quadra Mining, Inco, and Purolator Courier, and was a partner at Mercer Management Consulting. Since 2001, Mr. Selby has been recognized as one of the leading authorities on the nickel market.  He graduated from Queen's University with a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) and has also served on the boards of multiple junior mining companies and is currently a Director and Chair of Orford Minerals.

  

 

Johnna Muinonen

President, Dumont Nickel

Johnna Muinonen is the President – Dumont Nickel, Magneto Investments LP. Prior to moving over to Magneto with Waterton's purchase of 100% of Dumont from Karora Resources in July 2020, she was President, Dumont Nickel for Karora (previously Royal Nickel Corporation). Johnna was with Royal Nickel from 2010-2020 and led the Dumont Project through pre-feasibility, feasibility and post-feasibility studies. Prior to joining RNC, Johnna was employed by Vale (formerly Inco) for 9 years. While with Vale, she spent 5 years in Thompson, Manitoba working in the concentrator in various positions of increasing responsibility which culminated in an appointment to Mill Manager from 2005-2007. Johnna graduated from Queen’s Mining Engineering in 1998 and is a Professional Engineer in Ontario.

 

 

Wes Carson

Vice President, Mining Operations, Wheaton Precious Metals Corp.

Wes Carson is the Vice President, Mining Operations for Wheaton Precious Metals, he joined the Wheaton team in 2017.  With over 20 years’ experience in the mining industry, Wes has held a variety of leadership roles in operations, project development and engineering with both junior and major mining companies including multiple M&A integrations.  Wes is a continuous learner with an energetic and positive attitude towards life and people; committed to being on the leading edge of technology advances and new ways of leading and managing change.

Prior to joining Wheaton, Wes was the Vice President – Project Development with Sabina Gold and Silver leading the team that took their Back River project in Nunavut, from early stage exploration project through to initial construction.  He also worked with Terrane Metals and Thompson Creek Metals as Vice President and General Manager for the Mt. Milligan project in Central BC, where he helped lead the team that took Milligan from an exploration project to a fully operating mine.  Prior to this Wes worked for Cominco, Teck, Placer Dome and Barrick in a variety of operating roles in both North America and Africa.  Wes received his Bachelor of Applied Science, Mining and Mineral Process Engineering at the University of British Columbia, and is registered Professional Engineer in the province of British Columbia.

 

 

Roberta Pedlar-Hobbs

Partner, ERM

 Roberta Pedlar-Hobbs is a Partner with ERM based in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. She has 20 years of professional experience principally in the fields of sustainable mine planning, mine rehabilitation and closure, impact assessment, as well as tailings and waste rock management. She has experience in both the private and public sectors in the management, permitting and technical aspects of mining-related projects, with particular expertise in developing strategic and holistic approaches to project development, execution and closure planning.
