Mayana Kissova, Osisko Gold Royalties
Mayana Kissiova holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy in Sofia, Bulgaria and a master’s degree in tailings management engineering from the École Polytechnique de Montréal. She has over 23 years of experience in engineering, design, construction and operation of tailings and water management facilities. Prior to joining Osisko Gold Royalties in 2018, she was principal in tailings management with Golder Associates Ltd. She was an active engineer of record for a number of mining properties in Northern Quebec and lead tailings management design engineer for various projects in Canada, including Canadian Malartic, Laronde Mine, Louvicourt Mine among others, as well as internationally for Iamgold and Dundee precious metals properties. She is committed to promoting a better understanding and control of the risk factors related to tailings and waste management through adopting best design, and management practices capitalizing on the lessons learned.

Ken Bocking, Golder Associates
Mr. Bocking is a Principal in Golder Associates’ Mining Division. He holds an M.Sc. degree in geotechnical engineering and has over 45 years of experience in geotechnical consulting. In the past 31 years, he has been involved almost exclusively on mine waste management projects. He has been responsible for the siting, permitting, design, deposition planning, construction inspection and closure planning for numerous tailings basins and other mine waste facilities around the world.
Since 1988, Mr. Bocking has been responsible for the detailed design and construction supervision of numerous tailings dams and other mine waste facilities in northern Canada. He is listed as Engineer-of-Record on several Tailings Management Facilities and he also carries out annual Dam Safety Inspections at a number of sites in Canada and abroad. He is a member of several tailings review boards.
Dr. Luciano Piciacchia, BBA
Dr. Piciacchia's over 30 years of solid geotechnical and environmental experience will contribute with a holistic and strategic planning of all components of tailings and waste management of the mining site. As a Partner at BBA and a Team Manager, he holds full accountability for the tailings and mine waste component of this project, including understanding the client's critical success factor to manage realistic expectation of performance. Dr. Piciacchia's role is to ensure that the project remains focused on justified objectives and has access to adapted resources. He also expedites important decisions and approvals.
When he joined BBA in September 2016, Dr. Piciacchia brought with him a vast experience in mine tailings impoundment design and waste management. He has been responsible for the planning, execution or supervision of mine waste management projects in Canada and abroad. Dr. Piciacchia has further been involved in numerous complex tailings impoundment planning projects from the standpoint of scoping, pre-feasibility and feasibility perspectives. He has been involved in the design, site supervision and project management for earthworks, roads and dams for a number of mining sites including Bloom Lake, Mont Wright, Kearl, Mine Aurizon. His fields of expertise are: water management including water quality, hydrology, project management and technical coordination for geotechnical and environmental projects, dam safety including dam safety inspections, mine waste management for tailings.
Rob Shryburt, ENDM
Robert (Rob) Schryburt is a Civil Engineer with nearly 25 years experience in tailings dam design and construction supervision with the consulting industry as well as in government involving the regulation of mining dam construction. Rob is the new Manager of the Tailings Engineering Unit with ENDM. Prior to joining ENDM Rob was the Supervisor for the Northeast Engineering Services Unit at MNRF where he was involved in the review and approval of tailings dams. Rob is a long-standing member with Canadian Dam Association (CDA) and sits on several committees including the Mining Dams Committee (MDC), the Environmental Consequences Category sub-committee of the MDC, and the Design and Repair of Small Dams. Rob is very knowledgeable in all facets of mining dams and will be discussing how government approach the risks associated with mining tailings.
