Chuck Higgins's practice is focused primarily in the mining sector. Providing counsel on commercial and financial matters, he advises national and international mining companies and investment dealers. Chuck has considerable experience with joint ventures, acquisitions, and capital and debt transactions involving resources businesses.

 

Chuck started his legal career at Macleod Dixon (now Norton Rose) in Calgary and continued with the mining group at Oslers Toronto, before rejoining Macleod Dixon as co-founder of their Toronto office. In 2001 he joined Faskens and helped to establish the Global Mining Group as the preeminent legal practice serving the mining industry worldwide. He set up Pilot Law LLP in 2017.

 

Chuck is the editor of, and contributor to The Canadian Law of Mining published by the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation. He also worked for the Federal Department of Energy, Mines and Resources as a Senior Economist. Chuck is the past chair of the Natural Resources and Energy Section of the Canadian Bar Association and was awarded that organization’s highest honour, the Distinguished Service Award. He has been a member of the CIM’s Management and Economics Society since 1994.
