[Oct. 2016] 'Gathering of minds' at mining conference

The miners are coming. Sudbury is playing host for the next few days to about 500 delegates of the Maintenance, Engineering and Reliability Mine Operators conference, underway at the Radisson hotel. Sudbury often hosts mining conferences, which makes sense when you consider that more than 16,000 people throughout the city work in the sector.

[June 2015] Laurentian professor named 'distinguished lecturer' by CIM

Laurentian University professor Dean Millar was named a distinguished lecturer at a national awards gala last month. The professor at Laurentian's Bharti School of Engineering and Director of Energy, Renewables and Carbon Management at MIRARCO was one of only five award winners honoured by the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) at the national gala in Montreal.

The Canadian Institute of Mining hosted its annual Award Gala on Tuesday in Montréal, celebrating the leaders in the Canadian mining industry. WISE Sudbury members were present among those recognized for excellence in a specific discipline, an exemplary safety accomplishment or giving back to the mining industry or community.
