Fort McMurray, Alberta – The Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM), Oil Sands Chapter hosted its Annual Golf Tournament in June at the Fort McMurray Golf Club (FMGC) in support of the Northern Lights Health Foundation. The sold-out tournament had 144 golfers! Guests enjoyed a beautiful day on the course networking with industry professionals, chicken and rib dinner and prizes! Jordan Staden, Mitchell Swaren, Stephen Bevis and Chris Bowers from team Colour Blind Assassins won the tournament (pictured)!

“The CIM Oil Sands Branch is grateful to the sponsors, partners, volunteers and participants who made the golf tournament a great success. The Oil Sands Branch chooses to raise money for the Northern Lights Health Foundation as health is the foundation of a strong community. This year, as a result of our dedicated members, our Branch was able to match the first $5,000 raised through the tournament!” says Isaac Bussin, Chair of the CIM Oil Sands Branch. “We’re thrilled to have set a new record of funds raised through our annual tournament!”

“The Northern Lights Health Foundation has been our charity of choice for five years now. Within that time we’ve had the pleasure of being educated on the imperative health care programs the Foundation supports and how these programs positively impact families in our region. Presenting the CIM Golf Tournament is a great way to showcase the value of community investment and have a fun day with friends and colleagues”, says Daniel Lipton, Operations Manager of Foresite Geomatics.  Funds raised for the Health Foundation will fund health care innovation in Wood Buffalo.

“Third Party Fundraisers, such as the CIM, are crucial to ensuring we can continue to fund health care innovation in our community for all residents to enjoy”, says Cindy Amerongen, Executive Director of the Northern Lights Health Foundation. “On behalf of Health Foundation Board and Staff, I’d like to thank everyone who was involved in supporting the event. I invite anyone interested in hosting a third party fundraiser in support of the Health Foundation to contact our office.”
