On November 21st, 2018 from 6:15 p.m. -8:15 p.m. at 360 MacKenzie Blvd #5 (Brandt Tractor Office), the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) Oil Sands Branch will be holding its 2018 Annual General Meeting.  The purpose of the meeting is to review the branch’s activities in 2018, elect the 2019 officials and plan for 2019.  The agenda for the meeting is as follow:

  4. Election of Directors
  5. Action Items Review
  6. Goals, Activities and Events for 2019

 

The only pre-requisite for being nominated to the board is that you are a member of the Oil Sands Branch.   It is free to become a member of the branch and you can sign up here: https://store.cim.org/en/oilsands-branch.  

 

If you are interested in joining the Oil Sands Branch Board, you’re encouraged to attend the meeting.  One is welcome to start as a Director at Large, and increase responsibilities at a later date.  A list of positions open to election can be found below.

List of Positions

  • Chairperson (2 year term) –The Chairman shall be responsible for the general supervision and management of all business in collaboration with the executive branch
  • Vice Chairperson – The Vice-Chairman shall perform the duties of the Chairperson, in absence of the chairperson
  • Treasurer- The treasurer shall receive and deposit all funds on behalf of the branch
  • Secretary –The secretary shall tend to all official correspondence for the branch
  • Technical Program Director – Responsible for arranging a technical program for the branch
  • Social Director – Responsible for social arrangements at the branch meetings and for the organization of special events
  • Publicity Director – Responsible for publicizing the activities, projects and program of the Branch through various information channels available
  • Communications Director - Responsible for the publication of newsletters and prepare articles of branch activities
  • Membership Director – Responsible for developing membership in the branch
  • Director(s) at Large- Shall be appointed to undertake special assignments as deemed necessary by the executive committee

All the positions are 1 year in length except for the chairperson.
